Work Safely at Height
Train to identify fall hazards, fit and inspect fall arrest equipment, and work safely on ladders, scaffolds, and elevated structures. Practical, hands-on certification for anyone who works 2 metres or more above ground.
Our Working at Heights Training course prepares you to work safely wherever tasks are performed 2 metres or more above ground level — on scaffolds, roofs, towers, elevated platforms, and ladders. In South Africa, a fall from height remains one of the most common causes of serious workplace injury, which is why the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Construction Regulations require anyone exposed to this risk to be properly trained and certified before starting work.
The course is a practical 2-day programme combining classroom theory on fall hazards, legislation, and fall protection planning with hands-on training in harness fitting, anchor point selection, and basic rope rescue. You will learn to identify defective equipment, calculate fall clearance, and respond correctly if a colleague suffers a fall while wearing a harness, under the guidance of experienced instructors.
Working at Heights is one of the core programmes offered under our Health & Safety training field, alongside Fire Fighting, First Aid, and other workplace safety courses. Many students combine Working at Heights certification with Fire Fighting training to meet the full site-access requirements of construction, industrial, and telecoms employers.
The course also covers PPE selection, ladder and scaffold inspection, and the legal duties of employers and employees regarding fall protection plans. If you are weighing up training options beyond health and safety, DT Academy also offers Mining & Machinery, Lifting Machinery, and Security Training courses from the same Pretoria Central campus.
