Our Superlink Driver Training course equips you with the skills to operate articulated combination trucks safely and efficiently. Superlink trucks consist of a tractor unit coupled to two semi-trailers, making them one of the most demanding heavy vehicle combinations on South African roads. This course covers coupling and uncoupling procedures, advanced reversing, load distribution, and defensive driving techniques specific to long combination vehicles.
The programme is structured as an intensive 2-week course with classroom theory covering road traffic regulations, vehicle mechanics, and cargo safety, followed by extensive practical yard and supervised road driving. You will practise on actual Superlink equipment under the guidance of experienced instructors who understand the demands of both long-haul freight and mining-site logistics.
Superlink training is one of the professional driver programmes offered under our Mining & Machinery training field, alongside ADT Dump Truck, Rigid Body 777, and Front End Loader operator training. Many students combine Superlink certification with other heavy vehicle courses to maximise their employability across logistics, construction, and mining sectors.
The course also covers weight bridge compliance, axle load distribution, and pre-trip inspection routines that meet National Transport Regulator standards. Superlink truck components, engine and brake systems, road traffic regulations, National Transport Act requirements, and heavy vehicle operator responsibilities.
Coupling, Uncoupling & Load Safety
Fifth-wheel coupling procedures, air-line connections, trailer alignment, load securing techniques, and cargo weight distribution principles.
Yard Manoeuvring & Basic Control
Cab familiarisation, basic controls, straight-line driving, pivot turns, and introductory reversing exercises in a controlled yard environment.
Advanced Reversing & Road Driving
Alley docking, reverse parking, tight-space manoeuvring, and supervised public road driving on approved routes.
Assessment & Certification
Independent practical competency evaluation covering all learned skills. Oral assessment on safety and regulation knowledge. Certificate and operator licence card briefing, plus job application guidance.

Certificate & Operator Card Renewal
Certificates and operator licence cards issued by DT Academy are valid for 2 years from the date of issue. Once your certificate expires, it can be renewed at a cost — and because renewal doesn't require repeating the full course, our team can usually process it in the same visit.
