Become a Registered Security Officer
Complete your PSIRA Grade C training — the final step in the E-D-C pathway required to register as a Security Officer. Covers advanced patrolling, health & safety monitoring, incident response, and the legal duties of the role.
Our Security Guard Training Grade C course is the third and final grade in the PSIRA E-D-C pathway that every Security Officer in South Africa must complete before they can be registered by the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority (PSIRA). Building on the basics learnt in Grades E and D, Grade C prepares you for the increased responsibility of monitoring health and safety on site, managing more complex patrol routes, and understanding the legal duties that come with the role.
The course is an intensive 5-day programme combining classroom theory on incident and emergency response, risk identification, and relevant sections of the Private Security Industry Regulation Act, with practical scenario-based training in patrolling, reporting, and access control. Instructors bring real-world guarding, retail, and estate security experience into every session.
Grade C is one of the core programmes offered under our Security Training field, alongside Grade E, Grade D, Grade B, Grade A, and Firearm Competency training. Because PSIRA requires Grades E, D, and C to be completed in sequence, learners who have not yet finished the earlier grades can enrol on our combined Grade E, D & C training option and complete the full pathway in one continuous programme.
The course also covers professional conduct, basic first aid awareness, use-of-force principles, and record keeping. If you are weighing up training options beyond security, DT Academy also offers Mining & Machinery, Lifting Machinery, and Health & Safety courses from the same Pretoria Central campus.
