Become a Security Supervisor
Step up from patrol duties into supervision. Grade B trains you to control a site, manage a control room, direct junior officers and handle incidents with confidence and proper documentation.
PSIRA Grade B is the supervisory grade in the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority's five-tier grading system, sitting above Grades E, D and C and below the top management grade, Grade A. Where Grades E to C cover patrolling, access control and basic safety, Grade B shifts the focus to leading people — supervising junior officers, controlling a site or shift, and taking responsibility for what happens on the ground.
The course is accredited under Board Notice 102 of 1995, which the Private Security Industry Regulation Act 56 of 2001 kept in force for Grade B and Grade A training standards. Our 5-day programme combines classroom theory on supervision, control room procedures and workplace discipline with practical exercises in shift management, radio communication and incident reporting.
Grade B is a required step for anyone who wants to work as a control room operator, shift supervisor, or site manager, and it's also the mandatory stepping stone before enrolling in Grade A. Many of our students complete Grade B directly after Grade C to keep progressing toward a management-track career in the security industry.
If your goal is a Firearm Competency qualification, First Aid, or a Health & Safety certificate to round out your supervisory profile, DT Academy offers these from the same Pretoria Central campus. You can also explore our full range of Security Training Courses to plan your next grade.
