Become a Security Manager
Step up from supervision into management. Grade A trains you to manage entire security operations, apply PSIRA regulations correctly, plan for risk and emergencies, and lead with full accountability to clients and the law.
PSIRA Grade A is the final and highest grade in the Private Security Industry Regulatory Authority's five-tier grading system, sitting above Grades E, D, C and B. Where Grade B develops junior supervisory and control room skills, Grade A shifts the focus to full management — running entire security operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and taking responsibility for policy, risk and client relationships.
The course is accredited under Board Notice 102 of 1995, which the Private Security Industry Regulation Act 56 of 2001 kept in force for Grade B and Grade A training standards. Our 5-day programme combines classroom theory on security management, PSIRA regulations, risk management and the legal aspects of security operations with practical exercises in policy development, leadership and site management.
Grade A is the required qualification for anyone who wants to work as a site manager, operations manager, or client liaison at critical environments such as embassies, corporate buildings and high-security facilities. It's also the qualification behind starting or running your own security company, and the natural next step for officers who have completed Grade B and are ready to move into management.
If your goal is a Firearm Competency qualification, First Aid, or a Health & Safety certificate to round out your management profile, DT Academy offers these from the same Pretoria Central campus. You can also explore our full range of Security Training Courses to plan your next step.
