Operate A Reach Truck
Learn safe narrow-aisle reach truck operation for high-level pallet stacking and retrieval in warehouses and distribution centres.
Our Reach Truck Operator Training course gives you the practical skills to operate a narrow-aisle reach truck safely and efficiently in high-bay warehouses. Whether you're stacking pallets at height in a distribution centre, retrieving stock in a retail warehouse, or supporting a cold storage operation, this 5-day intensive course prepares you for real-world demands.
The course is split into two days of classroom theory — covering machine systems, racking safety, load charts and warehouse regulations — followed by three full days of hands-on practical training, operating a real reach truck on-site under close instructor supervision. This structure gives you enough repetition on the controls to build genuine confidence before your final assessment.
Reach Truck training is one of our Lifting Machinery courses, alongside Mobile Crane and Forklift operator training. Many students combine Reach Truck with Forklift training to broaden their employability across different warehouse and logistics roles. If a machine operator career on a mine or construction site interests you instead, DT Academy also offers Mining & Machinery, Security Training, and Health & Safety courses from the same Pretoria Central campus.
The course also covers battery handling and charging procedures for electric reach trucks, working safely near pedestrians in a warehouse environment, and daily maintenance routines — giving you the complete skill set employers expect from a certified reach truck operator.
