Our Bulldozer Operator Training course gives you the skills to operate tracked dozers for earthmoving, site preparation, and mining applications. Bulldozers are essential machines for clearing land, pushing material, grading surfaces, and creating access roads. Their raw power and tracked mobility make them indispensable on construction sites, mines, and agricultural projects across South Africa.
The course is an intensive 1-week programme combining classroom theory on machine systems, blade control, and hydraulic operation with extensive hands-on practical training. You will operate real bulldozers under instructor supervision, learning blade angles, ripping techniques, and precision grading for various soil and terrain conditions.
Bulldozer training is one of the surface machinery programmes offered under our Mining & Machinery training field, alongside Excavator, Grader, and Front End Loader operator training. Many students combine Bulldozer certification with other earthmoving courses to maximise their employability across construction, mining, and civil engineering sectors.
The course also covers slope work, embankment construction, and drainage channel formation, as well as daily maintenance routines and fault identification. Course Information
Machine Systems & Safety
Bulldozer components, engine and transmission systems, hydraulic controls. Track maintenance and undercarriage care. Site safety regulations, PPE, and hazard identification.
Blade Control & Earthmoving Principles
Blade angles and positions for cutting, filling, and spreading. Grading and levelling theory. Ripping techniques and scarifier use. Soil types and ground conditions.
Basic Controls & Blade Operations
Hands-on cab familiarisation. Basic movements: forward, reverse, and pivot turns. Blade control: lift, tilt, and angle adjustments. Straight-line cutting and filling exercises.
Advanced Grading & Slope Work
Precision grading and levelling to specification. Slope and embankment construction. Drainage channel formation. Ripping hard ground and rock breaking. Working on inclines safely.
Assessment & Certification
Independent practical competency evaluation covering all learned skills. Oral assessment on safety and maintenance knowledge. Certificate and operator licence card briefing, plus job application guidance.

Certificate & Operator Card Renewal
Certificates and operator licence cards issued by DT Academy are valid for 2 years from the date of issue. Once your certificate expires, it can be renewed at a cost — and because renewal doesn't require repeating the full course, our team can usually process it in the same visit.
