Operate A 777 Rigid Dump Truck
Learn safe haulage, loading and dump-site procedures on large rigid-body mine haul trucks.
Our 777 Rigid Dump Truck Operator Training course gives you the practical skills to haul high-volume loads safely and efficiently on mine and quarry haul roads. Rigid dump trucks in the 777 class are among the largest machines on a mine site, and operating one safely demands discipline, spatial awareness and a solid grasp of haul road procedure.
The course is split into two days of classroom theory — covering machine systems, payload management, haul road regulations and safety — followed by three full days of hands-on practical training, operating a real rigid dump truck on-site under close instructor supervision. This structure gives you enough repetition on the controls to build genuine confidence before your final assessment.
777 dump truck training is one of sixteen machine operator courses offered under our Mining & Machinery training field, alongside programmes such as ADT Dump Truck, Excavator, Front End Loader and Grader operator training. Many students combine 777 training with the ADT course to cover both rigid and articulated haulage.
The course also covers radio communication protocols, proximity detection and collision avoidance systems, and safe loading and tipping at the shovel and dump site — giving you the complete skill set employers expect from a certified haul truck operator. If you're weighing up training options beyond machinery, DT Academy also offers Lifting Machinery, Security Training, and Health & Safety courses from the same Pretoria Central campus.
